COME RELAX ON A WORKING FARM AND GET AWAY FROM THE CROWDS AND HUSSTLE AND BUSSTLE OF LARGE TOURIST AREAS.  SMELL THE FRESH AIR AND ENJOY THE PEACE AND QUIET OF COUNTRY LIVING. WAKE UP TO THE SOUNDS OF NATURE WITHOUT TRAFFIC. We have no traffic going by. Our farm is a half mile  off of a quiet country road.

The first of our accomodations will be ready by early fall 2010. It is the original settlers cabin built in the 1700's. It is a 3 room house very reminiscent of "Little House On The Prairie," We are adding electricity, a full kitchen and a nice bathroom, but all is in keeping with it's origins of simplicity. It will be furnished with period antiques, has a large covered front porch, and is surrounded with a picket fence adjoining the herb garden. It is within  walking distance from the main house. Freshly cut flowers can be expected from our butterfly garden at check in. Television, phones, and internet will be available for those who just can't live without the modern facilities. Cell phone reception at the farm is very difficult. This accomodation will sleep 6 people.

You may elect to prepare your own meals or may book your time with us to have your meals in the main house.  Erica is a gourmet cook and Erica's heritage is from a long line of professional chefs. Breakfast will be served in the main dining room at 8:00am. Lunch is at Noon, and Dinner is at 7:00pm. Every meal is prepared from the freshness of our bounty and is served family style. You may bring your own wine or beverage of choice.

Prepare to be spoiled from the time you arrive until you leave by your hosts, the quiet country life, the sheer peacefullness of the natural surroundings, the unsurpassed friendliness you will encounter by all who live in Halifax County, the rich heritage, cultural events, and historic sites. We are two miles from the Staunton River Battlefield, Restored Virginia Plantations open for tours,  about 15 miles to the Town of Halifax and South Boston where you can take walking or driving tours of many restored historical mansions, churches, Farmers Markets, and Antiques Shops. Unlike many tourist areas you won't find the crowds or the hustle and bustle of large tourist areas. You can meandor at your own pace and feel totally relaxed. You are also welcome to stop and visit the Amish Farm store, or purchase wonderful baked goods from a neighboring Amish farm. They are friendly and welcome questions, just no pictures please.

While on our farm you can enjoy nature hikes through the woodlands, visit the babbling brook and rest at one of the ponds.  You are welcome to pet our loveable farm animals and learn about organic farming. And of course you are welcome to visit our on site farm store, and participate in any of our weekend activities. Children are always a welcome addition. There are 20 acres surrounding our stream and ponds that we have set aside as a natural wildlife habitat. You will wake up to deer grazing, rabbits scurring about, an incredible bird assortment, squirrels, racoons, wild turkeys, and many other natural species to the area. Black bear is indiginous to the area. We heard one once but have never seen one, so we would ask you when on a nature hike please remain on our cleared walking and hiking trails. We are providing benches along the path as restful spots.

You are welcome to participate in the farm chores including the feeding of the animals under supervision. It can be a fun and rewarding experience. At the current time please call for reservations 434) 454-6915.
